Associate System Engineering professional can be defined as a cross breed of IT professionals who are experts in the field of information technology. This person is capable of applying knowledge of systems and information science, with a background in information technology to provide solutions to engineering and design challenges. He or she helps design and build information infrastructure and networks, help create designs based on information science, design and develop software and programs for client companies, and test the effectiveness of these designs.

The Associate System Engineer must possess strong problem solving and creative skills. In order to perform these required tasks, he or she must be able to independently complete assignments, work within a team, and use technical judgment. These skills are important in the competitive world of today. The profession is characterized by long hours, intermittent or constant travel, as well as a wide range of responsibilities. Graduates may find employment as field engineers, consultants, or product development associates.

The first step to become an eligible candidate for the Associate System Engineering professional certification is to complete a 4-credit course in computer systems engineering. Students must pass a core exam, which assesses students against knowledge, skills, and abilities in the discipline. A specific course outline is available from the Board of examinations for Professional Registration in Systems Engineering (bpsse).

After completion of the 4-credit course in system engineering of large complex systems of government or industry, students must successfully pass the examination for the Associate System Engineer (ASCE) examination. Students who successfully complete the examination and have met the other requirements will be issued an associate’s degree. The Associate System Engineer (ASCE) examination requires written and verbal examination and a panel interview. Students must successfully pass a battery of practical and written examinations and a final panel interview.

In the field of supply chain, a student must be able to demonstrate that he/she has the skills to design, develop, deploy, optimize, and integrate supply chains. Students in the Junior-level systems engineering, or Supply Chain Management Professional certification program, must demonstrate that they can analyze across the enterprise, develop solutions, and deploy, optimize and integrate solutions. They must be able to plan, analyze, prioritize, control, implement, and control. This is a necessary to be able to compete and perform according to today’s high-performance business requirements. A person with a strong combination of these skills and abilities is a great candidate for becoming an SCE in Supply Chain Engineering.

System Design and Development Associate is a course which would prepare the students for a career in Information Technology. It aims at preparing students for a career as a system engineer in a large information system development company. Students will be trained to develop enterprise systems and introduce business-critical technologies to organizations. It would provide students with the ability to assist the in the capture and analysis of system requirements, design and develop the requirements and develop systems integration activities.

A successful member of the staff of a BAE or CEA type company, an Associate System Engineer would possess the following competencies and skills: Possessing the necessary computer and communication skills necessary to enable them to design and build a network. Possessing a demonstrated understanding of the design, implementation and analysis of large-scale networks, distributed systems, and data communications. The ability to work independently and in a variety of environments and to communicate the design findings in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrated experience in the field of information technology and related fields in the field of network and systems engineering.

The job of a Systems Engineer would require the need to be creative and innovative in solving problems, as well as have the ability to solve problems quickly, within the shortest time possible, under given constraints. A Systems Engineer must be able to work under high stress conditions and to persist in doing so. They are expected to possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to work as a team and as a player. And lastly, an Associate System Engineer must be able to display knowledge in the area of systems and architectures, and also exhibit a good understanding of networking, software and system management, and also demonstrate a good writing style.
