As such, memorizing all answers may not be necessary; it is more important that you fully comprehend and comprehend all material thoroughly. During your computer-based examination you will receive a sheet with common constants, conversion factors and equations which should become familiarized.

Exam Coaching

Though both CEP and REP certifications provide environmental professionals with certification, their approaches differ considerably. While the National Registry of Environmental ProfessionalsSM (NREPSM) is the main issuer of CEP exams, other organizations are also eligible to offer them; thus providing individuals with multiple resources when taking the examination and helping them find the optimal study method.

As well as submitting their online application and passing the General Environmental Science (GES) exam, applicants must also provide three letters of reference from current or former supervisors or coworkers who can vouch for their qualifications on or before the due date.

What is the Certification Exam?

Those earning EPI can have their application fees waived for CEP certification!

What is the cost of the exam?

Exam fees typically cost several hundred dollars, although in-company employees often cover these costs themselves. To assist candidates through this application process, the Academy of Board Certified Environmental Professionals offers a mentor program where each candidate receives assistance and support throughout their application process from one mentor who serves as their point-of-contact during this stage.

Questions on the CEP exam come from various sources, such as job tasks performed by experienced environmental professionals. Once created, these questions were independently reviewed by subject matter experts before being included on the CEP exam. Calculations will also be required of you, although you don’t have to memorize every conversion factor and equation by heart; there will be a sheet available during computer-based testing which contains common constants, conversion factors and equations.

NREPSM’s REP certification recognizes environmental professionals with proven experience who adhere to an industry recognized code of ethics and conduct. However, it has more stringent educational requirements and more costly fees than its CEP counterpart.
