The first step toward obtaining certification in civil engineering is to fill out an application for certification by The American Association for Civil Engineers (AACEE). This application fee is required if you want to sit for the exam. There is no cost to the students who apply without the application fee. If you wish to take the exam for free, you can call the college offering the course you wish to take. In that case, the university usually has a list of names of schools offering the exam.
The application fee covers only the certification cost, not the cost of taking the exam or anything else. So be sure to get your Application Fee today! If you submit your application fee before the deadline, you will get a notice of successful certification.
The American Association for Civil Engineers (AACEE) is not a government agency. Their purpose is “to promote professional education, professional development, and safety.” The professional cost of certification is $1300. Keep in mind that just because the price is not included on the application does not mean the cost is not high. Most of these professional costs are extremely high and you should expect to pay at least some of the total cost for getting certified.
A civil engineering technician must take one of three exams to become certified by the American Board of Certification in Civil Sitework Construction. These exams are worth forty points; seventy if you pass with an average of at least I.5. The examination consists of two parts and each part consists of two hundred and fifty multiple choice questions. The exam fee is eleven dollars for a test, and it can take up to four weeks to receive your certification.
The second type of exam is worth forty percent of the points you earn, and costs fifty dollars for a test. Once again, this exam will take four weeks to receive your certification. These are the only two types of certifications offered by the American Board of Certification in Civil Sitework Construction. Other certifications offered by the university include: Professional Engineer, Surveyor, Foundry Contractor, and Certified Steel Contractor.
Your certificate will also include an official identification card that contains your personal information and that of the school. There is an application fee, but this fee is nominal compared to the other certifications cost and compared to the experience it takes to get these types of certifications. After you receive your certificate, the certificate will serve as your proof of training and expertise in your particular field. Once again, there is no application fee for these additional certifications. However, if you wish to become a professional engineer or a surveyor, you will have to pay the regular engineering licensing fees as well as a certification fee.
As a student, you will be expected to fulfill the requirements of the General Engineering Diploma program. You will have to complete at least one year of engineering courses before you can apply for your General Engineering Diploma. If you wish to be considered for the certificate of professional engineers, you will need to complete two years of college courses in any discipline including civil engineering. The certified professional engineer program is managed by the Department of Labor. The exam fee for this program is $230, and it can take up to three years to earn your certification. The exam is administered twice a year, and the program offers over 500 questions covering all aspects of engineering.
