The Fundamentals of Engineering examination is divided into two parts. The first part is primarily written examination and is usually taken by those who are just entering the engineering field. The second part is what is known as an oral examination and this is taken by those who have been in the engineering field for some time but who are becoming less interested in pursuing engineering as a career. Candidates who take both parts of the exam may opt for a combined score.
The Fundamentals of Engineering examination typically has two sections. In the first section, candidates are examined on the various aspects of engineering. These aspects include knowledge in mechanical, structural, electrical and chemistry as well as non-technical topics such as business law, human engineering, and industrial design. Typically, the examination will also cover specific classes such as electrical and mechanics, and also the foundation courses in engineering. These courses are typically elective courses that a candidate can select to fulfill his or her specific interests.
Once an individual has successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering examination, he or she will be required to take a practical test. This practical test is administered by the Fundamentals of Engineering examination panel. Candidates must first complete the engineering course and then pass the practical exam. Passing the practical exam guarantees passage into the second phase of the exam – the elective exam. This exam is typically very hard and is often administered by proctors who specialize in engineering.
Once all the preliminary exams are complete, the candidates can begin the third phase of the examination. In this phase, candidates are evaluated on their knowledge of engineering principles. Candidates must demonstrate how they have applied these principles to real world situations. Candidates are also evaluated on their ability to solve problems and complete assignments. Upon passing the examination, candidates will receive an engineer diploma which will serve as their license to work in any related field as an engineer.
To prepare for the exam and to earn his or her engineering degree, candidates will need to complete some coursework. The first such course is Introduction to Engineering. This two-credit course gives candidates an overview of the major engineering disciplines. This overview gives a good idea of the job market for engineers in various sectors. It also gives an idea of the skills employers are looking for in their future engineers.
Students may opt to enroll in a program that will prepare them for the Fundamentals of Engineering examination. There are four such programs. All of these programs offer a unique way of preparing for the exam and will ensure successful results for their engineering degrees when they apply for jobs in the engineering sector.
In general, Engineering Feasibility Studies (FEAS) courses are divided into two main types. One covers topics that will be tested while the other only deals with the conceptualization of solutions. A candidate can choose to take either of the two courses. However, as with any training, practical experience will help a student fully grasp the concepts being taught in the course. For this reason it is advised that students take part in FLES as many times as they can until they gain practical experience.
