There are basically four different types of research certifications that you can obtain, each bearing a different qualification level. The last Research Certificate is the Specialized Training Certificate for Fitness Professionals. This Research Certificate requires only a high school diploma or GED. Candidates who do not meet the above requirements will be evaluated based upon their GED or High School Diploma, and may be eligible for enrollment in a specialized fitness training program. To be accepted into the program, candidates must also have completed at least two years of high school or equivalent work experience. In addition to completing the Specialized Training Certificate, candidates must also successfully pass the physical exam, as well as pass a background and drug test. As with all certifications, potential candidates must still complete the necessary training and exam period to be considered for eligibility.
